Anežka Hošková je maliřka, která umí rychle reagovat na aktuální malířské trendy.
Anezka Hoskova is an artist who is able to react to contemporary artistic trends very quickly.
As an example, I will mention a very popular wave of pop surrealists. In her creative work, she is using the symbolism of the “tattoo of the 50s”, alternative comics, fashion design, heavy metal culture, post romantic literature, indie music aesthetic, cartoon movies; currently she is playfully mocking religious fundamentalism. The result is replete with personal, sensitive, slightly girlish, and often vaguely mysterious stories that are worthy of our unrevealing efforts.

In spite of the fact that the works of Anezka Hosekova and her (perhaps better known) brother Jakub give an impression of interconnected vessels, it is possible to identify her work without any problems- due to its expressive stylishness. Relatively clearly fixed and formulated starting points- compact coloured areas limited by bold contours that proceed into sharp ends, alteration of the symbols that refer to comics and street art culture on one hand, and to phantom sexual surrealistic blasphemy on the other hand- this all, in unison, create a cacophony of visual sounds, and mocking shrieks in her canvases and murals.

She is a member of A.M. 180 Collective group that runs the A.M. 180 Gallery in Prague. Since 2004, together with her brother Jakub Hosek, she has been a part of artistic duo Indie Twins that is also known as Indie Twins DJ’s.
From August 2002 until May 2003 she was a TV host (on TV channel OCKO) of the musical show Migraine, which was targeting alternative culture.
